Patriots + Torry Holt = Super Bowl

Posted in Sports by Riddy

Jets got LT, Jason Taylor, and Santonio Holmes. Miami got Brandon Marshall. Great players, but New England just signed Torry Holt! It’s officially guaranteed that the Patriots will be this season’s NFL champs. Torry Holt will get 15 TD and a minimum of 1,200 yards. I know i’m over exaggerating but it’s damn nice to hear Torry Holt, one of the best receiver’s of all time is playing for us. You know what that also means, i might be going back to my famous tradition of drafting Torry Holt on DFFFL draft day. Sleeper! And please don’t ask me why the Patriots love signing old players, that will always be a mystery that will go unsolved.

Joakim Noah Whiner or Attention Seeker?

Posted in Sports by Riddy

I really didn’t read much into the whole Garnett/Richardson altercation that happened this past Saturday. So today i decided to see what the deal was. Whoever you side on i can care less about but the fact that Joakim Noah decides to speak about it makes me laugh.

“That was unbelievable yesterday, that Boston-Miami game,” Noah said Sunday following the Bulls’ workout at Quicken Loans Arena. “He’s unbelievable, that guy. I’m gonna say it: He’s a dirty player, man. That’s messed up.”

The dirty player in question is Boston’s Kevin Garnett, who was ejected for hitting Miami’ Quentin Richardson with an elbow during a stoppage. After his unsolicited condemnation of Garnett, Noah was asked if the Celtics All-Star should be suspended for Game 2.

“I don’t make the decisions, but he’s always swinging elbows, man,” Noah said. “I’m hurting right now because of an elbow he threw. It’s unbelievable, man. He’s a dirty player. I mean, it’s one thing to be competitive and compete and all that, but don’t be a dirty player. He’s a dirty player.”

Don’t play in the NBA if your ass is expecting it to be a soft sport where people will just let you easily pass them. Noah is probably bitter about how the Celtics whooped their ass in the Playoffs or maybe how Cleveland did days before. Either way, he needs to man up because if he can’t handle aggressive players he should be doing something else. Maybe being Travis McCoy’s stunt double.

NBA Starts Charging Team For Free Throws

Posted in Humor, Sports by Riddy

NEW YORK—In an effort to increase the league’s revenue and offset the expensive cost of foul shots, commissioner David Stern announced Monday that the NBA would begin charging teams a $50 fee per free throw attempt. “We just can’t afford to keep them free anymore,” said Stern, adding that not charging for foul shots was causing the NBA to lose $25 million a year. “We believe this is a fair price. Now, if teams don’t want to pay the fee they can just take the ball out-of-bounds.” According to Stern, the NBA will now offer free throw insurance throughout the playoffs, allowing players to reshoot missed attempts for an additional $150.

Now before you start jumping in the air with a hissy-fit, this is from theonion.com. Yes, the very humorous news site i love. Now if this was actually real, Cleveland would be in trouble with Shaq at the line.

NFL Overtime Rules Changed For Playoffs

Posted in Sports by Riddy

Starting next season postseason overtime games will be different. If the winner of the OT coin toss kicks a FG, the other team has a chance to tie it or win it. However, if the team that wins the coin toss scores a TD then the game is over. The reasoning for the change was the fact that the team winning the coin toss in an OT game won 60% of the time. I’m all in for this rule but i know someone of you like the old rule and will tell the coin toss loser to play better defense. Remember, this rule is in effect for postseason games only. Regular season OT changes haven’t been decided yet.

Alge Crumpler Is a Patriot

Posted in Sports by Riddy

Hold the claps and enthusiasm please i know everyone in Patriots nation has been wanting this their whole lives. I know it’s last week news but it still hits me like a breaking news everytime i think about it. I’ve journeyed far and wide to seek an answer from the wise man and still have no clue why we took him. Sure he can be a “extra lineman” but they could have taken someone bigger. They could call up Orlando Pace and tell him to be a tight end. If he gets more than 2 TD’s this season i will be utterly shocked and everyone of you can point and laugh at me.

Maybe the next time we’re at Canada we can enjoy it for what it’s meant to be and not laugh all the time. Even with that, i’m still convinced this sport was made up by a group of janitors.
