Softmod Your Nintendo Wii for DVD Playback and Homebrew Apps
Everyone questioned Nintendo when they release the Wii and decided not to put a DVD playback function on it. So someone’s found a way to hack the system to play DVDs and homebrew apps. The process is safe and doesn’t involve any internal hardware changes. You’ll need:
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game
- a SD card (which needs to be formatted to FAT16)
- The Wii Brew SD Installer
- a windows pc with a SD card reader.
Of course if you have an Xbox 360 or PS3 you’d probably wouldn’t need to do this to your Wii unless you want some future homebrew apps.
You can follow the instructions at lifehacker.com.
What video quality does the Wii have? Ive seen game demos in Gamestop and the graphics looked pretty shitty to me – I think my old Super Nintendo could stand a chance against the Wii. DVD player is like 30 bucks at walmart lol
